ALHAMBRA
Islamic masterpiece
An unforgettable tourist attraction, the Alhambra is a true museum of Islamic architecture, being, along with the Mosque of Cordoba, a living proof of the Muslim presence in Spain. Situated on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Alhambra is a set of buildings in a fortress overlooking the plain and the city of Granada. The exterior is sober, while the interior decor is fascinating, based on three components of classical Arabic art: calligraphy, stylized floral decoration, and geometric motifs.

To the right is the Tomb of Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabel of Castile, the Catholic kings who recaptured Andalusia from the Muslims.

Albaicín
and
Mirador de San Nicolas
One of the most exciting activities to do in Granada is to get lost in the narrow and architectural streets, which reveal the Moorish atmospheric character specific to this area. The most spectacular view of these is from the Mirador de San Nicolae, the 16th century terrace, the Church of San Nicolae being in the heart of the Albaicín neighborhood. This commonly drawn panorama captures the Alhambra Palace and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Santa Maria de la Encarnacion Cathedral
The most majestic renaissance church in Spain, located next to Plaza Nueva. The cathedral was built by Queen Isabella as a monument to Christian Spain's victory over the Moors on the site of a former mosque. The north-western part of the cathedral is also richly decorated with ornate sculptures. On the pillars of the entrance arch are statues of Catholic monarchs and bronze statues of the apostles. The choir has two impressive baroque organs, which signaled sacred melodies during religious services.
